Our Featured Pet...
Our featured pet is Sheba, a young adult, spayed female Foxhound. She was found by one of our Board members. Sheba has no known history but she is a sweet dog and doesn't like the kennel life. We don't know if she is a hunter but this breed makes good pets. The adoption fee is $95.00 and includes the spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate vaccinations and dewormings, Frontline applications, collar, ID tag and a leash. For more information, call 803-536-3918 or email at: orangeburgspca@bellsouth.net
Who We Are
We are a non-profit (c)3 organization that was started over 40 years by Maude Schiffley. We continue to carry on her mission. Our goals are:
1. To reduce the overbreeding of domestic animals, primarily cats and dogs.
2. To further responsible pet ownership.
3. To place adoptable pets into responsible homes.
4. To shelter animals in such a way as to minimize their stress, protect them from the elements, and to provide a place of safety and comfort.
5. To educate the public (adults and children) on proper animal care and responsible animal ownership.
FOSTER CARE PROGRAM
We provide foster care for puppies and kittens that need weaning or socializing or in cases of overcrowding at the Shelter. Contact us if you are interesting in helping with this committee. Instruction/information booklet will be provided.
Adopting a friend
The adoption fee for dogs/puppies is $95.00 and includes the following: age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, Frontline application, collar, ID tag and a leash. The adoption fee for cats/kittens is $95.00 and includes: age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, feline leukemia and FIV test, Frontline application, collar, ID tag and a cardboard pet taxi.
We require a face to face meeting between adoptors and pets. We want to make sure everyone is happy. We don't adopt pets out as gifts.
There are always some great pets at the shelter waiting for a second chance. Most of the time, animals at shelters are not there because they were bad but because they are unwanted or lost and no one ever claimed them. All pets need is LTC, affection, along with a little patience to be a good companion and friend. When cats and dogs are locked up in a cage or kennel, they are not going to act the same as if they were your pet at home. They are scared and lost. Yes, they are animals but if no one knows they are there and how good they really are, their lives are a waste. Don't waste a wonderful life, consider adoption from our shelter.
